Box Five YouTube channel, videos from the "Philly Farewell" gig
Hello lovely lovely Box Five friends! Just wanted to let you know that Box Five now has its own adorable little YouTube channel, where we've posted a smattering of videos, including THREE videos from our recent "Philly Farewell" gig on February 12th at L'etage! Hey hey there, guys and gals! The excitement never seems to stop these days 'round Box Five headquarters, so here is the news!!

Yahoo! The very awesome A.D. Amorosi gave us a very lovely write-up in his ICEPACK column this week in CityPaper. You can check it out HERE; we are in the 8th paragraph. Thanks, A.D.!

New shows added!
Mary may be moving on March 1st, but that doesn't mean she's going to spend February sitting around doing sensible things such as packing! Oh no! She'll be playing lots of concerts!! Here they are:

Feb 9th: Special solo set at A.D. Amorosi's "Monday Night Club" showcase @ National Mechanics in Philadelphia, PA. (Check the tourdates page for full details.)

Feb 12th: Box Five's HUGE "Philly Farewell" gig at L'etage in Philadelphia, PA. This unique Box Five line-up will feature a rock band, string quartet, and woodwind quartet - 13 Box Fivers in all!! Also a special performance by Mali and Daniel of the Boston ensemble Jaggery. (Check the tourdates page for full details.)

Feb 19th: Mary will perform with a string quartet at David Ivory's monthly showcase at Puck in Doylestown, PA. More details on this show will be posted soon!

Feb 21st: Special solo set with Mary at Suba in Harrisburg, PA -- our very first Harrisburg gig! Opening for Alexandra Day. More details on this show will be posted soon!

WHEW, that's a lot of tourdates and magic and fun! Hope you'll join us!

Hey there everyone! Thanks to all the kind and lovely folks who came to Mary's solo shows this week in North Carolina, it was lovely to meet you!! <3

Now for our Philly fans, we have some big news!:

BOX FIVE IS MOVING TO BOSTON, MA! "PHILLY FAREWELL SHOW" ON FEB 12TH

Yes yes, the rumors are true!: as of 03/01/09, Mary Bichner of Box Five is moving to Boston, MA!! Aaaaaah!! :O

(Don't worry though, Box Five is still alive and well, and Mary will be back to do Philly-based Box Five shows every 3-4 months or so. Phew!)

Anyhoo, we just wanted to invite you to our "Philly Farewell" gig" at L'etage on Thursday, February 12th @ 8pm. This line-up of Box Five will be HUGE, featuring a four-piece rock band, a string quartet, a woodwind quartet, and a trio of singers crooning in lovely three-part harmony! Plus, we will be premiering several new songs!! You don't wanna miss it, TRUST us! ;D

When: Thursday, February 12th @ 8pm
Where: L'etage [Northwest corner of 6th and Bainbridge Sts., Philadelphia PA]
Cost: $8.00 (21+ w/ID)
The line-up: Mary Bichner (piano, vocals, guitar), Steve Toy (guitar), Joe Gribbin (bass), Chris Pires (drums), Michelle Bishop (violin I), Alison Marie Rigby (violin II), Milena Pajaro-van de Stadt (viola), Steve Duckworth (cello), Katie Barbato (flute), Amy Lynn Miller (oboe), Tina DiCroce (clarinet), Elizabeth Shoemaker (bassoon), Teri Rambo (backing vocals) and one more backing vocalist TBA.
With a special performance by: Mali Sastri and Daniel Schubmehl of Jaggery [Boston, MA]

Tickets can be purchased in advance (just email Mary) or at the door, but we recommend getting to the concert EARLY because we have a feeling it may sell out!

Box Five probably won't do another gig in Philly until at least June, so this is a gig you don't wanna miss! Can't wait to see you there!!
